Service

An important aspect of science to me is community, and I believe that as scientists, we all share the responsibility of nurturing that community by engaging in service.

As a member of the mentorship working group within the department, I help organize mentor-mentee pairs between postdocs and grad students, and facilitate workshops and events that help both mentors and mentees make the most out of the experience. Additionally, I lead events supporting undergrads in the department in applying for fellowships and graduate school, ranging from informational panels to writing workshops. I am also a member of the mental health working group, which organizes de-stress and mindfulness events for the department. Finally, I helped organize the department's "Wunch" (Wednesday lunch) weekly grad student seminar series during the Spring 2022 and Fall 2022 semesters.

At Berkeley, my friend Nishant Mishra and I spearheaded the first undergraduate physics research fair in Fall 2020 for students to learn more about research opportunities and apply for funding in a centralized way — the event still takes place each semester! I also was treasurer for the local Society of Physics Students chapter, served as a mentorship program coordinator for the Undergraduate Astronomy Society, and was a peer mentor for the Mathematics Undergraduate Student Association.
